Instead of using Black Friday/Cyber Monday to buy clothes or other things I don’t really need, I have a tradition of buying “a First Life Cheeseburger’s worth of SL Art” on Cyber Monday.
I had a yummy “Veggie Shack” at Shake Shack. With fries and a shake. It came out to US$23.72 which is about L$5,306. I bought art from a few galleries, and also messaged a few artists. More artists, all of them, got back to me than I expected, so I wound up buying “a cheeseburger and a half” of SL Art this year.
Let’s Go Collecting!
My first stop was a large Karma Weyman exhibition at Kultivate Galleries. I bought three of her beautiful works there. My next stop was Nitroglobus Gallery where I collected two pieces from deborakazMegan Prumier wasn’t currently exhibiting, but she was kind enough to set up a large collection of her photographic works and allow me to select which pieces I’d like to collect this year.Prumier and I had a nice conversation about her work. I learned that all of her images are of herself. She explained that this was mostly for convenience as she’s the one model who’s always available. Still, in thinking about the work, I imagine that it is, at least in part, an exploring of her own avatar body and the way it exists in this world. SL avatars have been called “Cartoons” or “Barbie dolls,” and yet they are also the way we choose to exist in this world. In First Life most of us don’t get to choose our own names, but in SL we do. In First Life our body image might reflect the qualities of our lifestyle and the vagaries of genetic disposition, but in SL every piece of clothing and tweak of body sliders has something to do with our self-perception and our existence in this world. While I don’t use myself as a model, shortly after taking this picture, I bought some less fitted and more blousy suits, and grew my hair out. There is still some core “me” regardless of appearance, but my new look does feel like a variant of me with a new affect. Adwehe invited me to her private gallery where I was able to experience the diversity and scope of her work. I selected two wonderful installation pieces that she kindly prepared for me.Adwehe and her omnipresent butterfly. She’s created a remarkably diverse series of works. I’m sure I’d like to collect something else from her next year. The gallery included several kinetic pieces that captivated me. Her kinetic pieces are different from the works Sledge Roffo back in the day, but like his creations, hers dance and delight in simple but endless ways. At Transylvania Vampire Empire sim owner Obscuro Valkyrie runs a large, non-selling gallery. He was kind enough to make several pieces available to me. All his images are of participants at the sim engaged in dance parties and other events.
Megan Prumier’s works “Priestess of Equilibrity,” “Worshipper of The Sun,” and “Daughter of Nubia” along with deborakaz’ “if(self != self) duplicate() – deborakaz” installed in my skybox.Karma Weyman’s works “A Good Time For A Song,” “Wishful Thinking,” and “Down Time 3” along with deborakaz’ “class Human(Exception) pass- deborakaz” installed in my skybox. In Adwehe’s gallery she had two pieces in a corner together and I loved that configuration so much I asked if I could purchase it. Here in a corner of my little platform are her pieces “Tesselated canvas,” and “Inherent Light.”On the skybridge over to my platform I placed three of Obscuro Valkyrie’s portraits of his sim patrons, “Ink and Sukk,” “Halloween 25 Fieri,” and “Sue Mowadeng.”
I love the new aesthetics at my place and wow, this is a lot of art to collect for just “a cheeseburger and a half!” Thanks so much to Karma Weyman, deborakaz, Megan Prumier, Adwehe, and Obscuro Valkyrie for making so many beautiful and thoughtful pieces and sharing them with our Second Life community.
I was the facilities manager at Medici University. Currently semi-retired. Leisurely strolling the SL grid. A little salsa dancing. A little salsa & chips. Maybe looking for a new job, who knows?

thanks for visiting Nitroglobus and buying work of Debora Kaz. Super!
Thank you, Dido! Nitroglobus has been such a strong gallery for so many years! The quality of the artists you exhibit, and the longevity of the gallery, are unrivaled in SL. Congratulations on your continued success and thank you for sharing so much beautiful work with our SL community.
Retired latex model. Over the years so many "SL Killers" have come & gone: Cloud Party, Blue Mars, InWorldz, Sansar, HiFidelity, and more. Meanwhile, SL keeps pressing on.
Cheerleader, Roller Derby girl, Barista, and Host. I've seen so much love, beauty, and desire in SL. I'm touched by the tiny acts of kindness that surround us every day.

My pronouns are Blonde / Brunette / Ginger. I love body paint! So much less messy in SL than in FL! Find me dancing at the CMNF Lounge in the body & hair colors of the day!
1542 – 1576 – 2014. Having your brother order your husband to murder you is a lot. If anyone needed a reboot, it was me. In SL I'm all about education: body, mind, soul.
Hi! I'm Butter, a new Second Life avatar from Firenze, Italia! I'm an SL supermodel (at least in my own mind) out to look great, shop hard, dance wildly, and have all the fun (and none of the drama) that SL is famous for.
