Children grow up faster than you think. The burdens of parenting fade into the distance. The mistakes never do. I’m forever haunted for having been a career-obsessed absentee mother. IDK how, but somehow, my baby grew up to be a strong, loving, confident, caring, beautiful woman.

The Orange Man is on a mission to destroy culture, destabilize the world, and persecute the vulnerable. On top of all that, we’ve had to hear about, and think about, this person who is the last person I ever want to hear or think about, every single day for the last ten years.
Monster sociopath that he is, I can’t help but feel sorry for him. Would he, and the world, be living a different reality today if his father had ever once said, “I love you, son”? Absent that love, he grew up to become a bottomless pit of need. Even election to “most powerful man on earth” isn’t enough. It’s never enough. Nothing can ever fill that empty soul.
Even though I was an often absentee mom, at least Odia and I had phone calls and letters. My priorities were shit, but at least I told her that I loved her. Often. And loudly. It was kind of Odia and me against the creeps at CPS. Even if we had to do it by mail sometimes. IDK how Odia managed to become such a vibrant human being. But she did. And maybe silly mommy played some small part in that.

I love you, Odia.
No mother could ever be more proud.
