Daily Booth

Daily Booth was a photo sharing website. It encouraged us to share a photo a day with a caption. Their slogan was “Your life in pictures.” Like most sites that don’t become Twitter or IG, they eventually gave up and deleted everybody’s pix. DB launched in Feb ’09 and died in Nov ’12.

From Feb ’10 to Dec ’10 I did a pretty good job of living up to their photo-a-day mantra. I posted 209 photos in 297 days. At the time I was working as a latex model at Kai Heideman’s shop Powers of Creation (POC). Charly, Fari, Baal, and I, and so many others wore latex, plastic, and rubber all day long and teased, flirted with, and occasionally tortured the customers. I took selfies, pix of customers, and pix of all of us messin’ around.

I stopped posting to DB before its demise. But was still sad to learn that they’d deleted my and everyone else’s pix. In a way, KateNova.uk is a personal recreation of Daily Booth. A photoblog. Sometimes I get wordy; sometimes it’s just a photo.

Along the way other great avatar-authors, Aero, Earth, Hayden, Jazzminh & Meg, have joined me here sharing pix & stories of their own virtual adventures. We have lots of categories for our various posts and don’t exactly need a “selfie” category. Still, every now and then I think back on the simple, silly fun of Daily Booth and being a latex model at POC in those innocent days of 2010.

And so “Daily Booth” is reborn as perhaps the funnerest category here @KateNova.uk. A place for selfies, strangers, friends, and other moments, large and mostly small, glimpsed around the Second Life grid.
