Yesterday Isabella Medici published applications for Medici University for Spring Semester 2015. She’s put 4 applications online. You can apply to be a Student, Faculty, Staff, or open a Retail Shop at the University.

Medici University is a tuition-free, non-accredited, virtual university, offering Arts degrees in 19 program areas:
2D Art, Art History, Architecture & Community Design, Communications & Media, Creative Writing, Dance, Fashion Design, Furniture & Interior Design, Game / World Design, Graphic Design & Illustration, Interaction Design, Machinima (Motion Picture / Television), Museum Studies / Curatorial Practice, Music & Sound Art, New Media, Performance Art, Public Art, Theatre. and Therapy (Art, Dance, Music)
Students
MU empowers students to create their own course of study and then realize it. No hoops to jump through. No tablets coming down from the mountain. MU is your ticket to create your own meaningful, relevant, and useful degree program.
Faculty
MU supports traditional instructional models and many new forms of short talks and student interaction. MU offers studio space to all faculty to create and present their own work.
Staff
MU is a vibrant community. In addition to classrooms and studios we have 4 dance clubs, a student union, a theater, a health & wellness center, and Izzy’s Gym. If you’d like to work with students or in any of these facilities, fill out an application and join us! From Student Advising, to Retail CSRs, to dance club DJ’s and Hosts, we have a place for you!
Retail
Retail is a key element of MU. Our campus strives to be extremely mixed-use in nature. With diverse opportunities always next door and always open. We welcome your application to join us. MU does not charge any rent to retail shops. We encourage both free stores and for-profit shops. We encourage having CSRs in your shop when possible.

About Pedestrian Access
Medici University is one of the 4 projects that comprise our Pedestrian Access project at LEA22-23-24-25. Our set of 6-month residencies begins on 1 January ’15. The 4 projects are:
- LEA22 – Gracie Kendal – Ce n’est pas une peinture
- LEA23 – Isabella Medici – Medici University
- LEA24 – Lemonodo Oh – Borderline
- LEA25 – Misprint Thursday – Amplituhedron

Yesterday I was chatting with Swann Jie, and we’ve both decided to apply to be faculty at Medici University. Swann wants to teach Avatar Creation and I’m excited about teaching Public Art.

What a remarkable school. It sounds like you had a truly great experience there that well-prepared you for life and career.
MU is nothing if not flexible! And there should be many ways you can participate. Of course you could teach a full course, but it’s understandable that with your fellowship, and your installation at LEA27, you might be too busy for that.
But you could also teach a 1-day course. Or meetup with students and give a tour of your installation at LEA27.
Also, given your experience at New College, perhaps you’d be willing to help a student or two devise their own curriculum?
IDK how this will play out in SL. At its heart, although virtual and non-accredited, MU’s core values are a lot like New College. But in SL I suspect many will think of it more as an RP experience. That’s not necessarily “bad.” If someone wants to come and learn or share or interact or discuss, that’s awesome.
Perhaps talking about MFA degrees will be a bit too ambitious for many. I think we should add “non-degree” and “certificate” options where peeps could take a class or create a project without making that larger commitment first.
